Editorial review

Microsoft Photo Story is an upgraded version of a classic image presentation program that you can use to organize your photos in a certain sequence, add visual effects, music, text, subtitles, and use other options to turn a bunch of images into a quick story.

Built-in photo editor

Unlike standard software like Windows Movie Maker, you can edit your images using the in-built tools. Thus, if you noticed some imperfections, you don't have to quit the program and edit the photo in some other image editor. However, the set of editing features is really basic and obviously won't do it better than Photoshop or other sophisticated programs.

Advantages

  • Microsoft Photo Story offers a wide range of different effects. Plus, you are allowed to add multimedia content from the Internet if the existing list isn't enough for you;
  • The program is free and fairly easy to work with in spite of a wide variety of options and features.

Disadvantages

  • If you want to make a professional-looking presentation, you'd better search for more sophisticated tools;
  • The output presentation is saved in WMV format. Unfortunately, you can't choose any other formats, but luckily, there are a lot of open source video converters to be found online, and most players do recognize .wmv files.
