About InfraRecorder

InfraRecorder is a simple disc burning tool that records CD and DVD. It can also erase, rip and rewrite discs, allows saving disc images and burning them. One of the best things about this program is: it is lighter than most its analogs (for example Nero) and is much easier to use.

Interface and usage

InfraRecorder has a plain interface that would perfectly keep in tone with Windows XP. It's not overloaded: there are only six tabs which makes navigating the program pretty easy (File, Edit, Actions, View, Options and Help). Buttons at the top of the program window give you easy access to the most important functions of the utility: disc burning, erasing, reading and copying, tools and exit. Additional options can be found in Actions tab. In general settings you can choose to associate the program with images (ISO files), and run it on startup. InfraRecorder has a built-in explorer that displays a folder tree and allows browsing through your computer content with ease. You can still browse your hard drive while the program burns a disc or performs some other action. The progress bar will be displayed at the bottom of the window.

Features

  • Has support for dual-layer DVD discs;
  • Burns following types of discs: audio CDs, data CDs, DVD video discs, mixed mode CDs and data DVDs;
  • Burns disc images;
  • Doesn't just record discs, but erase them and allows rewriting them;
  • InfraRecorder works as a disc ripper, too: breaks disc protection and copies content on your hard drive. Saves copied files in OGG, MP3, WMA, WAV and even ISO;
  • Shows full information about discs (including their capabilities) that you insert into the computer;
  • Has a built-in disc reader, reads disc images;
  • Supports 20 languages, including English.

Cons

  • Doesn't support burning Blu-Ray discs that are so popular today;
  • Its interface is not exactly an eye-candy.
