Editorial review

As you probably know, pretty much every video in the Internet is a Flash format. If you want to download some video from the Internet and save it onto your computer, you would need a piece of converting software that can turn FLV files into something more convenient like AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, or WMV. Freez Flv to AVI/MPEG/WMV Converter does exactly that.

Once the program is installed, all you have to do is choose the file you want to convert, specify the output directory, play with the settings by configuring video and audio bitrates, frame rate, choosing the output format (AVI, MPEG, or WMV), and specifying the output video width and height. After that, just hit the Start button and let the program do its job. Basically, that's all this program can do, which can be quite enough for basic conversion, if not for some specific issues:
  • You'll occasionally see a popup window that offers you to check a manufacturer's website for updates. However, when you go there, you find no updates or anything that's worth viewing. Thus, the whole thing smacks of adware;
  • The program does its job perfectly unless you make some mistakes in the Settings section. If you do something wrong, it would lead to Explorer's crash. It doesn't sound like a lot of fun and is actually quite fishy.

The program's simple interface and ability to convert FLV and SWF files to more usable formats could have made this program a good choice to make, but the fact that it's buggy and sends pointless update message ruins the impression and makes you search for another converter.
